During my year of service as Miss South Dakota, 2007, I will speak out about an issue that has affected me for 24 years; dyslexia. It will be vital to use the power gained from the title of Miss South Dakota to help answer questions & ease concerns dealing with this learning disability to which many unnecessarily attach negativity & wrong thinking. My goal is to embrace the children who encounter the difficulties of reading, their families, educators, & communities, helping them find ways to raise and preserve the dyslexic's self-esteem through my program, "The Gift of Dyslexia."
